Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide expert clinical care within our growing Head & Neck Cancer service, contributing to the diagnosis, treatment, and reconstruction of oncology patients. The role also includes participation in the 1:5 OMFS consultant on‑call rota for emergency cover and active engagement in departmental leadership, service development, and education.
Your week will include a balance of theatre sessions, outpatient clinics, MDT participation, and supporting professional activities such as research, audit, and teaching. You'll have the autonomy to tailor your job plan (10-12 PAs) to your interests, including opportunities in education, innovation, and leadership.
You will:
Deliver safe, high‑quality care to patients referred under 2WW and oncology pathways
Contribute to multidisciplinary Head & Neck, Skin, and Deformity MDTs
Participate in general OMFS emergency on‑call cover (1:5)
Take part in departmental meetings and support service improvement and governance
Teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, fostering clinical excellence
Engage in continuing professional development, with study leave time and funding available

Qualifications & Training
* Completion of Specialty Training (CST or equivalent) or within 6 months of achieving it in relevant specialty
* Full registration with General Medical Council
* Demonstrable recent proficiency in microvascular surgery free flap work
* MD, PhD or other higher degree
* Education / Medical Education Qualification (preferably at Masters level)
