About The Role
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at The Shires – Stretton. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, guiding your practice within an education setting and clarifying your roles and responsibilities while respecting the requirements of governing and professional bodies. You will be responsible for holding a Speech and Language Therapy caseload, with full support from your designated clinical supervisor and Lead Clinician, and will contribute to staff training and consultation as required. This post is suited to a resilient, creative and enthusiastic individual.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registered, and registered with the RCSLT
* Relevant experience engaging and working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary working in a range of settings
* Experience of communicating with families/relatives and carers
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice
* Good relationship‑building, analytical and judgemental skills
* Good communication skills (oral and written)
* Good time‑management and organisational skills
* Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
* Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, types of intervention and ability to formulate support plans based on needs profile
* Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of the multi‑disciplinary team
* Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group

* Understanding of how other differences (e.g. sensory and motor) may impact an individual’s communication strengths, differences, traits, difficulties and needs profile
* Understanding of the relationship between arousal levels and communication
