Location: Based in East Finchley Library, and Various locations across the borough
Term: 7-month fixed term contract, (31 st March 2026)
BOOST is Barnet Council’s job brokerage service supporting residents across the borough with help to find and sustain work. The team also lead on Digital Inclusion support for Barnet and offer extensive links to partner support for clients
The overarching purpose of this role is to support clients to overcome barriers to work and coach them into sustainable employment.As an Employment Adviser, you will work as part of the BOOST Jobs Plus Team to support Grange Estate residents to progress towards employment or into better paid work.You will assist clients with making claims for grants and basic benefits, give money advice and help with better-off-in-work calculations.
You will hit the ground running and quickly develop and manage a caseload. You will be asked to agree actions with clients, deliver 121 support, work with partners and track engagement and outcomes from the actions completed.You will offer advice and direction and make recommendations to referrers where additional needs have been identified.The role will involve creating effective relationships with clients to help them build confidence and resilience.
The service will be delivered face-to-face from the Jobs+ site on the estate.
The Vacancy
Barnet is seeking to hire a BOOST Jobs Plus Employment Adviser to add to the growing team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
·Carry out assessments of clients and use assessments to support and prioritise needs and advise on options
·Manage a caseload of clients
·Keep clients updated
·Help clients navigate around services including help getting online
·Provide support and monitor progress in line with agreed action plan
·Refer participants to advice and support in line with agreed action plan
·Check clients are claiming all the correct benefits
·Help clients to make benefit claims and provide digital support
·Help clients fill in forms to access benefits, grants and discretionary funds
·Carry out Better-Off-In-Work calculations
·Give advice on personal budgeting and welfare benefits
·Identify and address engagement and employment barriers
·Identify job opportunities
·Assist clients with job searches, job applications and recruitment
·Make referrals to training providers and where appropriate deliver training
·Provide basic housing advice and assist in homelessness prevention
