Support Worker - Mental Health
Location: Westbourne, Bournemouth
Job Type: Full-Time, Temp to Perm
Salary: £12.71 per hour plus £65 per sleep-in
Hours: Early & late shifts, alternate weekends, and sleep-in duties (1-2 minimum per week)
About the Service
The service is a CQC-registered residential accommodation service supporting up to 17 adults with complex mental health needs. The service provides 24-hour staffing, including overnight sleep-in support, and delivers person-centred, recovery-focused care designed to increase independence and help residents move towards more independent living.
Support is tailored around the individual and covers mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and daily living needs. Service users are actively involved in decision-making, feedback, and shaping how the service operates.
The Role
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting residents to progress in their recovery, build life skills, and achieve their personal goals. You’ll work both 1:1 and in group settings, contributing to a positive, safe, and empowering environment.

Key Responsibilities
* Build and maintain trusting, professional relationships with service users
* Support individuals to set, prioritise, and achieve personal goals
* Carry out assessments, risk assessments, and placement reviews
* Work collaboratively with external professionals and agencies
* Support residents with medication (prompting and administering - training provided)
* Assist with benefits, education, appointments, bills, forms, and correspondence
* Support with personal care when required
* Encourage participation in daily activities to develop skills and interests
* Assist with cooking, cleaning, and domestic tasks (infection control training provided)
* Maintain accurate, timely, and person-centred records using computer-based systems
* Adhere to lone working policies and professional boundaries
* Undertake mandatory and role-related training and learning
What We Are Looking For
Essential
* Experience supporting vulnerable individuals (paid, voluntary, or life experience)
* GCSE or Level 2 qualification in English (or equivalent)
* Basic IT skills (email and word processing)
* Ability to work a 24/7 rota including sleep-ins
* Access to transport (car or public transport)
* DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
* A non-judgemental, empathetic approach
* Ability to work collaboratively and maintain professional boundaries
* Willingness to undertake domestic and practical support tasks
* Strong communication, problem-solving, and record-keeping skills
Desirable
* Lived experience of mental health distress
* NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
