Overview
Science Technician – Tynecastle High School
Hours: 21.45 per week, 39 weeks (sessional). Salary: £29,173 - £33,287 (pro-rata for sessional and part time). Working pattern: Part-time 21hrs 45mins per week, Monday to Friday.
We are looking for a conscientious, detail‑oriented candidate with good communication skills. You will work within the Science Faculty alongside another Science Technician and, among other tasks, will be responsible for maintaining equipment and ensuring adequate levels of materials and equipment are available for use by teachers and students. You may also assist teaching staff in demonstrating the use of equipment. Previous experience of working in a school would be desirable but is not essential.

The post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An Overseas Criminal Record Check may be required for candidates who have spent a continuous period abroad within the last five years. An unconditional offer of employment is subject to satisfactory pre‑employment checks.
