ROLE & PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Collins Aerospace is undergoing major expansion at our HS Marston Aerospace facility on Wobaston Road in Wolverhampton. As a result we are looking for a number of Skilled Fitters to join the production team in early 2024.
The role will involve mechanical assembly, sheet metal work, fabrication and general finessing of products made from aluminium and steel which are then welded and tested before final quality inspections.
This is a great opportunity for Fitters with the right skills to increase their capability and standards of work in a highly regulated environment where all training and support will be provided.
Responsibilities:
1. Read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly guidelines
2. Assemble and test productions through different stages
3. Work with the production team to meet project targets and deadlines
4. Support ACE activities (5s, TPM, Turnbacks, Clinics)
5. Maintain LOT traceability and quality control
6. Continue ongoing internal and external training to welding certification requirements
7. Ensure working environment is clean, organised and company standards
8. Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety requirements
Experience and Qualifications:
9. NVQ/City & Guilds or similar vocational qualification in fabrication, mechanical or engineering subject (Time served will also be considered depending on relevant experience)
10. Proven experience in hand fabrication
11. Experience with sheet metal
12. Experience working to high tolerance
13. Familiarity with precision tools such as verniers, digital calipers or measuring gauges
14. Experience in aerospace, motorsport or similar industries is advantageous but not essential
15. Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
