Kubernetes Platform Security Engineer (Contract)
📍 London (hybrid) | 12 months
A highly technical, engineering-led firm within financial services is looking for a contractor to support security across a large-scale container platform operating in a fast-moving, highly automated setting.
The infrastructure runs at significant scale, handling tens of millions of workloads daily across hundreds of thousands of compute cores and large GPU fleets, with data volumes in the hundreds of petabytes. Systems are continuously rebuilt, upgraded, and evolving, so this role suits someone comfortable working in dynamic, high-change environments rather than static infrastructure.
You’ll be focused on improving security across the platform - working on areas such as network controls, service-to-service communication, and policy enforcement — while helping to deploy and refine security tooling at scale. The role involves close collaboration with platform and engineering teams to embed secure-by-default practices, improve visibility and detection, and support incident response when needed.
They’re looking for someone with strong Kubernetes experience in genuinely large-scale production environments (not small clusters), combined with a solid software engineering background using Go and/or Python.
Experience working in highly automated environments is important, along with a good understanding of container, network, and platform security concepts. Exposure to policy-driven approaches and modern platform tooling (e.g. GitOps, observability stacks) is useful, as is experience with advanced networking or eBPF-based tooling.
