The Role – Deputy Manager
* Support the Store Manager day‑to‑day and take full responsibility for all aspects of running a successful store in their absence. Managing people, financial performance, store standards, customer service.
* Lead by example, creating an excellent culture and working environment for your team, demonstrating our values of being: Genuine, Wise, Eager, Focused, Together.
* Ensuring you and your team deliver exceptional customer service by providing a great shopping experience for customers and demonstrating strong pet* and product* knowledge. (*Training given).
* Deliver the highest standards of pet care and ensure that the welfare of pets is a top priority, promoting responsible pet ownership.
The Skills
* A passion for pets and people; delighting customers by ensuring an unrivalled shopping experience.
* Previous retail management experience, deputising for the Store Manager and managing the business daily.
* A team player, able to communicate effectively and build high‑performing, highly engaged teams.
* Proven track record in developing business performance and exceeding KPIs, whilst also delivering the highest levels of store standards including health & safety and legal compliance.
* Commercially aware with proactive planning and organisational skills.
* Own transport with a UK driving licence, as occasional off‑hour coverage or cover in other stores may be required.
* Full‑time, permanent position – 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7.
