We are looking for an Area Officer to work from Bangor, Aberwystwyth or Milford Haven but covering the whole of the Wales coastline. This job is about fishermen and their families. You need to be able to walk alongside people in the good times and the bad. They will need you to offer guidance and answers that will offer practical solutions and make a real difference. The Role
This is a part time post for which 30 hours work per week is expected.
Place of Work: Home based with frequent travel to support the fishing communities of Wales (Some weekend and out of hours working may be required)
Role Summary
To develop services across the area to provide support to clients in line with the strategic direction of the organisation. The Area Manager will be required to have a good understanding of the needs of current and potential clients across their area, and how these relate to the national picture.
To provide support to clients of the Fishermen's Mission by assessing their welfare needs, completing applications, providing sign posting recommendations and completing referrals. This will be undertaken through a combination of digital and in-person support
To be a member of the Fishermen's Mission 24/7 response for emergencies at sea rota, by taking initial calls and co-ordinating responses as required.
To develop and maintain positive links with key statutory and voluntary section organisations across the region, promoting awareness of the Fishermen's Mission and developing potential routes to further support our clients.
To develop and deliver a community fundraising plan for the area, meeting a fundraising target.

Appropriate training opportunities will be provided and may include visits to other ports.
Please note that it would be usual that during the first week of employment the successful candidate will be expected to travel to our Head Office in Whiteley, Hampshire as part of the induction process. Soon after this it is likely there would be a requirement to visit another port and spend time with other staff members.
Appointment will be subject to receipt of satisfactory references and DBS check.
