Job Title HV Protection Engineer Location Humberside, UK (site‑based) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced HV Protection Engineer to support the delivery of a major power and energy infrastructure project in Humberside. The role will focus on the design, configuration, testing and commissioning of high‑voltage protection systems, ensuring safe energisation, grid compliance and reliable operation of plant electrical systems. This position will suit an engineer with strong site experience who is comfortable working in fast‑paced project environments and interfacing with multiple stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Develop, review and implement HV protection philosophies Configure protection relay settings for generators, transformers and switchgear Carry out secondary injection testing and on‑site commissioning activities Support energisation, outage planning and grid connection processes Interface with OEMs, commissioning teams, electrical engineers and site management Investigate protection faults and support resolution during commissioning Ensure compliance with UK Grid Code, DNO and project‑specific standards Produce commissioning records, test reports and handover documentation Essential Experience & Skills Proven experience as an HV Protection Engineer on power generation or large industrial projects Strong understanding of HV protection schemes and coordination studies Hands‑on experience with modern protection relays (e.g. Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider or similar) Practical commissioning and site‑based testing experience Ability to read and interpret single line diagrams and protection schematics Strong communication skills with a proactive and safety‑focused mindset Desirable Experience Power station or large‑scale energy project background Generator protection experience IEC 61850 exposure Experience working within EPC or OEM‑led delivery models UK grid connection or DNO interface experience Package / Engagement Competitive day rate Outside IR35 via Ltd Co or CIS Opportunity to work on a technically complex, high‑profile energy project Strong exposure to HV systems, commissioning and grid compliance activitiesGuidant, Carbon60, Lorien & SRG - The Impellam Group Portfolio are acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy
