Job summary
The Programme Leader will be responsible for a designated range of courses, ensuring that the BA and MA Interior Design, BA Visual Design, and MA Digital Art Direction programmes equip students with the necessary skills to develop successful careers in the design industry. The Programme Leader will collaborate to develop programmes to the highest level of excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
* Ensuring effective programme delivery;
* Teaching duties alongside leadership responsibilities;
* Maintaining compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for certifications and accreditations;
* Upholding transparency and listening to student feedback;
* Implementing curriculum and assessment updates;
* Supporting attendance, retention, and student engagement policies;
* Promoting industry visits, exhibitions, and international activities;
* Fostering an inclusive learning environment;
* Developing curriculum and assessment materials;
* Supporting recruitment and development of academic staff;
* Participating in teaching and delivering key lectures;
* Integrating innovation, digital strategies, sustainability, and global perspectives into the curriculum.
Course Management and Quality Assurance
* Organising meetings, quality assurance, and liaising with external examiners;
* Participating in academic committees and student/staff consultations;
Student Admissions
* Representing courses at recruitment events;
* Supporting admissions with student selection.
Research
* Developing personal research and promoting professional development.
Strategic & Industry Engagement
* Engaging with industry and alumni for programme relevance;
* Creating opportunities for collaborative projects and guest lectures.
Other duties include:
* Supporting event coordination and attending institutional events.
Qualifications and Skills
* Minimum 7 years in UK higher education in an academic managerial role;
* Knowledge of the design industry;
* Excellent English communication skills;
* Leadership and people management skills;
* Organisational skills and flexibility;
* IT proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Office, and Mac;
* Desirable: Experience with digital learning and online delivery.
