This role reports to the RPA Player Welfare Director. You will oversee the strategic and operational delivery of player development support across PREM clubs, ensuring our members are empowered, prepared, and supported throughout and beyond their professional playing careers.
You will lead the Player Development Manager (PDM) team, shape the RPA's Player Development Programme (Gain Line), and play a central role in delivering the player development elements of the RPA Wellbeing Strategy.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
The responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):
* Provide leadership and line management to the men’s Player Development team, overseeing team KPIs and quarterly performance processes.
* Oversee daily performance and delivery of the men’s player development department.
* Provide mentoring/coaching, and technical expertise to PDMs, and lead all department development, support and recruitment requirements.
* Develop and drive a strategic, collaborative Gain Line programme that drives active member engagement in personal development.
* Contribute to the RPA Wellbeing Strategy and oversee implementation of relevant initiatives within the team.
* Work with the Director of Finance to manage the department’s annual budget.
* Represent the RPA at the PRB Personal Development Group (PDG) and other professional rugby governance subcommittees.
* Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships including PREM Rugby, RFU, clubs, and international player associations.
* Lead research, insights gathering, and programme evaluation to shape the future direction of the Gain Line programme.
