A welcoming and diverse secondary school in Manchester is seeking a thoughtful and engaging Religious Education ECT to join its Humanities department this September. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified teacher to facilitate meaningful discussions on ethics, philosophy, and global faiths in a school that prides itself on its inclusive community. The school provides a supportive ECT induction framework, including a dedicated mentor and a focus on developing advanced classroom dialogue and questioning techniques. The Role Teaching Religious Studies across KS3 and KS4, covering major world religions and ethical themes. Planning and delivering lessons that encourage critical thinking, empathy, and respect for diverse viewpoints. Supporting pupils with GCSE examination preparation and mastering evaluative essay writing. Facilitating debates on contemporary moral issues, such as social justice, environment, and medical ethics. Contributing to the school’s SMSC (Social, Moral, Spiritual, and Cultural) development programme. Organizing or assisting with visits to local places of worship to enhance the curriculum. Participating in the statutory ECT induction sessions and collaborative planning within the Humanities team. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Currently working towards or recently completed Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). A degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a related Humanities subject. A passion for fostering an inclusive classroom where every student feels comfortable sharing their perspective. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to handle sensitive topics with maturity. A collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn from experienced practitioners. A proactive, organized, and reflective approach to starting their teaching career.
