We are recruiting for an Assistant Finance Manager who shares our vision to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Assistant Finance Manager to join our Management Accounts team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant or experienced finance professional looking to progress within a large and dynamic acute NHS Trust.
Our Finance Team has achieved Level 2 accreditation under the One NHS Finance Towards Excellence framework and is working towards Level 3. We invest in our people and support career progression through professional study support, training and exposure to a wide range of finance and operational experiences.
Main duties of the job
This role offers the chance to develop strong business partnering skills, gain exposure to senior stakeholders and contribute to financial sustainability and service improvement across the Trust.
To provide accurate and timely financial reporting, forecasting and planning. To meet regularly with budget holders to provide advice on all aspects of financial control.
The postholder will be required to organise personal workloads to meet all relevant financial timetables in the delivery of the financial reporting/management remit as set by the Senior Finance Manager. The post holder is required to work a significant proportion of their time (more than 80%) using computer applications. The computer applications used include the software packages Excel, Word, Oracle, Business Intelligence, Power BI and our Trust payroll system ESR.

Qualifications / Training
Essential criteria
* A' levels or equivalent
* Completed AAT Technician stage or have equivalent experience in management accounting issues to include budgetary control and costing techniques.
Desirable criteria
* Studying towards a CCAB qualification
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
* Significant experience in all aspects of financial reporting, planning and control.
* Significant experience of working to tight reporting deadlines.
Desirable criteria
* Experience in an NHS financial environment
* Experience of supervising junior staff
Skills
Essential criteria
* Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Excel, Word and large Ledger systems
* Ability to apply accounting knowledge and demonstrate analytical skills.
Desirable criteria
* Experience of using bespoke IT systems e.g. dashboard software such as Power BI
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Equivalent to part qualified CCAB student with particular emphasis of all management accounting issues to include budgetary control and costing techniques.
Desirable criteria
* An understanding of NHS Finance
