Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Highly Specialist Team Band 7 Physiotherapist in the Musculoskeletal (MSK) service in Swansea Bay UHB. The role will involve assessing and managing patients both in core physiotherapy and in Hand Therapy Clinics. The post holder will also support the delivery of core MSK services with a special interest in Hand Therapy, liaising with the MSK Clinical Team Leads and the wider Hand Therapy MDT's in Orthopaedics and Plastic Surgery. While also monitoring staff development, training, mentorship and student provision.

Main duties of the job

The post holder requires extensive knowledge and experience working in the MSK environment. You should have highly developed clinical reasoning skills to implement an effective patient centered approach to care. You should have strong insight of evidence based practice and understand its relevance in developing MSK pathways. The post holder requires experience with leading and managing a team to provide high quality service. Additionally, it is important to have experience in completing audits and/ or service improvement projects. The post holder must be confident to work with other health care professionals in Physiotherapy and other stakeholders including; GP’s, secondary/tertiary care consultants.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. Degree in Physiotherapy (or other relevant qualification)
2. Professional Registration with HCPC
3. Evidence of post-graduate masters level education or evidence of equivalent clinical experience.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

4. Substantial experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
5. Supervision experience of students, physiotherapy assistants and junior staff.
6. Significant NHS experience
7. Experience in leadership and management

Desirable criteria

8. To be able to speak Welsh

Service Development

Essential criteria

9. Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues.

Desirable criteria

10. Service development or quality improvement experience

Skills

Essential criteria

11. Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate.
12. Understanding of clinical governance and its implications for the service, including experience of quality issues and audit.
