This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team on daily activities within the regime. This role involves regulatory reform work and supporting the transition of the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The duties and responsibilities include:
1. Waste classification technical leadership
2. Technical leadership for Hazardous Waste compliance and initiatives to improve compliance
3. Leadership of priority waste streams
4. Providing technical support on priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
5. Tackling regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra's circular economy work on Hazardous Waste
6. Enforcement focus to support actions in the control strategy to reduce offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste management.
