Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, table, or other work surface; Frequent periods of extended exposure to computer screens/monitors; Frequent use of typing keyboard and manual writing; Infrequent need to lift, carry, pull, or push items weighing more than 15 pounds

Working Environment: School setting, with presence of children and adults; Office Environment. Including desk, standard office furniture and technology; Natural & fluorescent lighting; Heating and air conditioning

Typical Schedule: 9am-3pm Monday-Friday

Overview

The Business Manager, in collaboration with the Executive Director, shall oversee the school’s operating finances to ensure faithfulness to the school mission and successful operation of the organization. They will effectively craft, in coordination with Sr. Administration, the annual budget and communicate the status of the school’s financial position to the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and Sr. Administrators. They will ensure the faithful and efficient use of financial resources, prioritize expenses, and collaborate with the Executive Director in the reduction of general operating costs. The Business Manger is responsible for managing practical aspects of the school’s human resources programs, including payroll and administrative benefits.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Effectively communicate the mission and goals of the school to internal and external constituencies, ensuring mission alignment for all school activities.
* Cultivate an atmosphere of community and compassion amongst faculty, staff, students, and families.

Administrative

* Provide ongoing review of policies and procedures related to administration of the school’s financial matters.
* Provide monthly written reports to the Board of Directors regarding matters of the school’s financial health, including, but not limited to, profit & loss, general balance, accounts receivable, and bank balance.
* Ensure compliance in all matters of finance and employment law
* Complete and produce accurate reports for reimbursement for early childhood and school nutrition programs
* Oversee the process of purchasing all school supplies, equipment and furniture, and finalizing financial agreements with outside vendors
* Maintaining open communication with funders at every level
* Collaborate with the Executive Director and Finance Committee to prepare the annual budget, audit, and other required financial documentation.
* Facilitate sound financial management and practices throughout the organization.
* Provide financial documentation, analysis, and support to Executive Director and Director of Development in pursuit of grants and other philanthropic endeavors
* Complete monthly bank reconciliations and recording of interest on all financial accounts
* Oversee all billing for student programs, including the monthly generation and disseminations of invoices
* Post income from all revenue sources and maintain accurate records of accounts receivable
* Verify and post all invoices for payment, including creation of checks and balancing all vendor statements.

Human Resources

* Prepare and review accuracy of all employment documentation for newly hired employees, ensuring compliance with applicable laws
* Verify and process all aspects of payroll, including accuracy of all required deductions
* Liaise with the insurance handler. Serving as a conduit between employees and insurance broker in the completion and execution of all documentation

Other

* Complete other tasks and duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Required Skills & Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, with Knowledge of grant funding and reporting
* 4-6 years of progressing responsibility financial management within a nonprofit organization, including budget creation and management, accounts payable/ receivable, and human resources
* Strong knowledge of best practices for responsible financial management and accurate reporting for state and federal grants
* Expertise in data entry and effective, efficient use of financial software including QuickBooks
* Effective oral and written communication skills
