The post holder will play a key role in supporting the Maternity Screening Leads in the coordination and delivery of the Antenatal and Newborn Screening (ANNB) Programmes and fetal medicine service across University Hospitals Sussex. Provide accurate, evidence‑based information and counselling to pregnant people considering or undergoing prenatal screening.Support families through complex decision‑making related to fetal anomaly findings, pregnancy management and potential outcomes.
Please note: This role does not meet the minimum criteria for visa sponsorship under the current UK immigration rules, which set specific salary and skill thresholds. As such, we are unable to provide sponsorship for this post. Applicants will therefore need to already have the right to work in the UK to be considered. Main duties of the job
· To receive clinical referrals directly from, and refer directly to other healthcare professionals, working in partnership with a range of other specialist colleagues to ensure optimal quality care.
·Deliver high quality, woman-centred care by providing clear, accurate, and evidence-based information about the purpose, process, and implications of antenatal screening tests.
·Offer sensitive and compassionate support to women throughout the screening process, particularly when managing high-risk or positive screening outcomes.
·Facilitate informed decision-making by ensuring women understand their options and are supported without bias or pressure.
·Ensure timely and appropriate referral of women with high-risk or positive screening results to relevant specialist services for further investigation, counselling, or treatment, in line with national screening pathways.
·Promote autonomy and informed choice, supporting women to make decisions aligned with their individual values.
·To liaise with other departments/wards within the hospital and various external sources to provide a quality service.

This role is central to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate antenatal and newborn screening services. The post‑holder will:
1. Provide high‑quality, woman‑centred midwifery care, offering clear, evidence‑based information about screening tests and supporting informed decision‑making.
2. Communicate sensitively with women and families, particularly when discussing screening options, high‑risk results, and referral pathways.
3. Act as a key point of contact for staff and departments, ensuring timely, accurate communication of screening results and follow‑up plans.
4. Work autonomously as a specialist practitioner, coordinating screening pathways in line with national guidance and escalating concerns promptly.
5. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, attending MDT meetings and contributing to coordinated care planning.
6. Maintain high standards of documentation, information governance, and professional conduct, acting as an ambassador for the Trust’s values.
7. Support quality assurance through regular audit, monitoring compliance, and contributing to service improvement initiatives.
