What does a Housing Advice and Homeless Prevention Officer do at Hillingdon?
To be part of the busy Housing Team at the front door of Housing reception providing a proactive service, giving advice and assistance to anyone with housing related problems in accordance with current legislation and code of guidance and identifying those who are already homeless or at risk of becoming homeless within 56 days.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Delivering professional and responsive housing options advice
2. Undertaking statutory assessments
3. Supporting and directing clients to access a broad range of housing options
4. Ensuring statutory requirements are met
5. Communicating effectively with customers, representatives, Elected Members and colleagues
6. Identifying and suggesting any improvements to current ways of working in order to deliver a more efficient and effective service for residents.
7. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, highly motivated with excellent communication skills and have sufficient experience working within a Housing Options Reception / Homeless Prevention / Homelessness Assessment / Resettlement Service.
