Ipswich Borough Council (IBC) is recruiting for a Communications and Press Officer. We aim to build a team that works to the highest standards and understands the importance of meaningful engagement with residents, media, partners, and employees.
This role will support our Corporate Management Team and Councillors, playing a key role in producing high-quality internal and external communications.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Adapting writing styles to meet different audience needs
2. Creating content for multiple communication channels, both internal and external
3. Managing digital and print external communications, including Ipswich Direct, the website, social media, Intranet, and Staff News
4. Managing the Council’s media library
5. Designing and analyzing surveys and digital consultations
6. Liaising with press and media on proactive and reactive basis, designing media campaigns
7. Researching best practices in government communications and embedding them
8. Ensuring the Council’s website is current and user-friendly
9. Managing communication projects to high standards, on budget and on time
Applicants should demonstrate 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
