Graduate Civil Engineer (BEng or BSc)
Warwickshire County Council, Engineering Design Services, is a civil engineering business unit within the Local Authority. The core business is the design and construction of new highway improvement schemes, as well as the design and maintenance of the County's highway structure assets and traffic control and information systems. This year WCC aims to appoint four new Graduate Engineers in the Highways Capital Delivery, Bridge & Structural Design, and Bridge Maintenance teams.
The Highways Capital Delivery team focuses on new link roads, junction improvements, cycle schemes, traffic safety schemes and town centre regeneration schemes. The Bridge and Structural Design Team is responsible for the technical design of new highway structures in integrated teams. The Bridge Maintenance Team monitors and maintains thousands of highway structures ranging from historic bridges to modern constructions. As a graduate civil engineer, you will assist engineers in delivering projects from small highway improvement schemes to multi‑million‑pound infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
* Production of feasibility studies for new schemes.
* Technical design of new highways and structures using advanced structural modelling software and calculations.
* Communicating and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders and members of the public.
* Preparing and tendering construction contracts including drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
* Construction site supervision and contract administration.
Applicants must hold a valid UK or EU passport or visa to work in the UK and preferably have a full UK driving license or intend to acquire one in the near future, as sites are located across Warwickshire.
Salary

Skills and Experience
* Can solve a variety of complex problems, both technical and non‑technical.
* Great communicators, with the ability to engage with a range of audiences.
* Well‑organised, with the ability to manage and maintain all types of project documentation.
* Experience using software such as CAD or structural analysis software like Midas, Civil 3D, or similar.
As a new Graduate Engineer, practical experience of working on civil engineering projects is not necessary, but candidates with this background may find it to their advantage. Ideally you will be completing or have completed an ICE accredited BEng or BSc course with modules applicable to the type of work undertaken by Warwickshire County Council.
Location
The role will involve a mix of remote working and remote/hybrid base in Warwick Town Centre at the County Council’s main office complex (Shire Hall). Throughout the role there will be opportunities to visit project sites predominantly located in Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull.
