The Risk Management Authority (RMA) is a Non-Departmental Public Body which focuses on protecting the public from the risk of serious harm posed by violent and sexual offending.
The Role
The Order for Lifelong Restriction Team Manager will drive strategic oversight and continuous optimisation of all delivery functions to ensure alignment with organisational objectives, including (but not limited to): Accreditation of Assessors; approval of Risk Management Plans; and, review their implementation. In addition, by working collaboratively with key stakeholders, including: the Scottish Parliament; Scottish Government; Social Work; and, the Scottish Prison Service, the OLR Team Manager will take lead and support key initiatives and projects across the organisation, including that of the First Grant of Temporary Release (FGTR) pilot.
The OLR Team Manager will provide advice to Scottish Ministers on behalf of the RMA and will work closely with the RMA Research and Development and Effective Practice teams contributing to research, training, Standards and Guidelines and policy functions. The role is required to develop and strengthen stakeholder relationships, and provide strategic development, oversight and continuous improvement of policy and practice.
The Person
This challenging post requires a range of experience and expertise in the field of assessing and managing the risk posed to the public by serious violent and sexual offending. The successful candidate will have a substantial track record in developing and delivering initiatives to improve risk assessment and management practice and have demonstrable management and leadership qualities. You will be required to engage and influence a wide range of key stakeholders across the justice sector, including: practitioners; senior managers, and policy makers. As such, you will be required to have sound knowledge and appreciation of the RMA’s purpose, legislative duties and operations.
