Consultant – Assessment & Development
Assessment for Development | Leadership & Organisational Effectiveness
Location: London (Hybrid)
Who we are:
With over 50 years of business success, we have a reputation as the world leader in specialist recruitment and workforce solutions. Joining Hays isn’t just about being part of a global business leader, it’s about making a difference in the world of work.
The opportunity
We work with organisations facing complex people and leadership challenges: leadership capability, succession risk, team effectiveness, inclusion future skills and workforce planning.
Assessment has historically been a key entry point to this work. Our focus now is firmly building our practice for assessment for development – using insight to diagnose real organisational issues and enable better leadership and performance outcomes.
We are looking for a consultant who brings a strong foundation in psychology and understanding of human behaviour, with some exposure in leadership development, organisational development or broader people consulting.
You will work as part of consulting teams shaping, designing and delivering solutions for senior leaders and organisations. This role is ideal for someone who wants to deepen their experience of the consulting cycle, work on meaningful leadership challenges, and build credibility with senior clients.
What you’ll do
* Actively build your capability across the full assessment spectrum, including assessment for executive selection, with structured support and training
* Contribute to the design and delivery of leadership assessments for selection and development, including providing feedback to candidates and producing high quality reports that translate psychological data into clear, development focused action.
* Contribute to the design and delivery of leadership assessments for development, including design of bespoke virtual and in-person development centres and workshops tailored to organisational need.
* Use assessment tools, frameworks, quantitative and qualitative insight to diagnose leadership and organisational challenges.
* Support client discovery and project delivery with experienced colleagues, developing confidence working with senior HR, Talent, OD and business stakeholders
* Ensure delivery quality, rigour and professionalism across all client work.
* Contribute to the development of tools, frameworks and propositions for our Assessment and Development Practice
* Learn how consulting work is scoped, shaped and positioned commercially.
What we’re looking for
* A BPS-accredited MSc (or equivalent) in Occupational Psychology
* A genuine passion for applying psychology to organisational challenges
* Experience contributing to assessment and/or development interventions
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* A collaborative working style with strong relationship-building skills
* Occupational Test User qualifications (or willingness to gain them)
* Exposure to design and delivery of leadership development centres and workshops
Why this role is different
* As part of Hays Advisory—a fast‑paced, start‑up style team within the wider Hays business—you’ll thrive in an environment that values collaboration, energy, enthusiasm, and the confidence to adapt quickly as we grow.
* You’ll work on real leadership and organisational problems, not just transactional administration of psychometrics
* You’ll be developed across both assessment for development and selection, without being pigeonholed
* You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with other service lines at Hays, such as Emerging Talent specialists, Career Transition Services, RPO, MSP, and specialist recruiters, to develop and deliver integrated talent solutions.
If you are looking to join an enthusiastic team in a boutique style feel with the backing of the Hays business, this could be the perfect move for you.
What you’ll get in return:
* Culture built on rewarding success and the opportunity to influence your earning potential.
* Best technology in the industry and a renowned training programme to support success and drive rapid career progression.
* Flexible hybrid working patterns.
* Opportunity to take your career globally.
* Incentives and rewards to recognise performance locally, regionally, and nationally.
* Broad range of employee wellbeing initiatives and benefits.
* Referral bonus scheme.
* Community of support networks from Hays Pride to Parents@Hays.
* Paid charity day for all employees #HaysHelps and working closely with charity partners.
