This post holder will work as one of a team of both clinical and non-clinical staff delivering General Medical Services to registered patients at Andover Medical Centre (AMC). At all times the post holder must act in a manner consistent with the code of conduct and appearance representing the NHS.
Our busy, diverse and innovative practice seeks a new receptionist to join our friendly team.
The role requires excellent telephone and face to face manners, a high standard of written English and the ability to multi- task in a fast paced environment.
The role consists of administrative responsibilities encompassed within the reception role.
Our practice is located in Islington (5 minute walk from Finsbury park), close to a number of transport links and serves a diverse population.

Previous Medical Receptionist experience is not essential but patience, empathy and a drive to support patients to receive care even these challenging times is.

Andover Medical Centre (AMC) is a General Practice based on Hornsey Road, Islington. Our aim is to provide outstanding, up-to-date health care within our resources, delivered with care and compassion. We endeavour to be responsive to patient's needs but also offer to help manage their own health. Currently, we are made up of 3 GP Partners, 3 salaried GPs, 2 trainee GPs, 1 HCA, 1 Nurse, 3 pharmacists and an admin team made up of 8 individuals.

Main duties and responsibilities
* · Be the first point of contact for the practice including greeting and directing patients and visitors ensuring patients are treated with dignity, respect and GDPR and IG guidelines are adhered to at all times.
* · Making appointments including telephone, face-to-face, online, home visits and external appointments as needed. Arranging telephone consultations
* · Make bookings for interpreters, ambulance transport as well as others as required
* · Contacting other providers including hospitals for queries
* · Overseeing admin mailboxes such as NHS mail, Docman, EConsult as required, ensuring all requests and queries are actioned or passed on to the relevant member of staff
* · Processing incoming mail (letters and e-mail) and messages (face to face and telephone)
* · Mum and baby discharge summary processing in line with practice policies
* · Scanning all non-electronic patient correspondences and registration forms
* · Ensuring patient registrations are added on accurately including read coding information as required and paper registration packs are ready if needed at reception
* · Handing out prescriptions
* · Reception admin tasks, such as, patient call backs, recording call logs, printing of appointment books for the next day when closing and photocopying.
* · Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary
* · Respond to needs of clinical and non-clinical colleagues in the practice
* · Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services
* · Deal with general enquiries and complaints, including escalation to line manager, as necessary
* · Pulling and filing Lloyd George records when requested by clinical or admin colleagues
* · Input and extract information from Practice computer system, whilst maintain confidentiality and following Information Governance guidelines at all times
* · Observe health and safety guidelines at all times
* · General housekeeping (e.g. keeping reception and waiting areas tidy)
* · Maintaining a clear desk policy at all times
* · Proactive invites for QOF and other Enhanced Services
* · Acting as a chaperone, subject to training
* · Opening and closing as per practice policy
* · Daily checks each morning to ensure that clinicians are in correctly allocated rooms
* · Any other reasonable duties as necessary
