As a key member of our clinical team, the Dental Nurse plays a crucial role in shaping the patient journey, supporting clinicians, and ensuring the smooth delivery of high-quality, multidisciplinary dentistry.
Purpose of the Role
The Dental Nurse will support clinicians across a wide range of treatments, ensuring the highest standards of infection control, patient care, digital dentistry, and accurate clinical documentation. This role also offers the opportunity to contribute to intraoral scanning, 3D printing workflows, and digital patient journeys, making it an exciting position for a forward-thinking nurse.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
* Provide efficient, accurate chairside assistance for cosmetic, restorative, implant, orthodontic, and surgical procedures.
* Prepare and maintain surgeries and equipment in line with infection control and CQC standards.
* Adhere strictly to HTM 01-05 cross-infection control protocols.
* Maintain accurate clinical notes, including materials used, treatment stages, and patient responses.
* Assist during complex procedures such as implants, smile makeovers, and full mouth rehabilitations.
* Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout treatment.
Digital Dentistry
* Operate intraoral scanners to support Invisalign, cosmetic, and restorative workflows.
* Capture accurate scans and liaise with lab partners for treatment planning.
* Assist with 3D printing workflows, including surgical guides and provisional restorations.
* Ensure digital equipment is properly maintained and data securely managed.
Patient Care & Support
* Welcome and support patients warmly and professionally.
* Provide clear pre- and post-treatment instructions.
* Maintain accurate clinical records including medical histories and consent forms.
* Assist with patient photography for documentation or social media (with consent).
Stock & Equipment Management
* Monitor and order stock proactively.
* Report and follow up on equipment issues.
* Support monthly audits and inventory checks with the Head Nurse.
Team & Administration
* Complete daily/weekly/monthly decontamination and surgery maintenance tasks.
* Take part in team training, CPD, and clinical development opportunities.
* Support reception or other cross-functional duties when needed.
* Contribute to a collaborative, supportive culture that reflects our values.
Person Specification
Essential
* GDC-registered Dental Nurse.
* Strong knowledge of clinical and cross-infection protocols.
* Confident with clinical documentation and note-taking.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* IT literate, ideally with experience using R4.
* Willing to learn and engage with digital workflows (intraoral scanning, 3D printing).
Desirable
* Experience in cosmetic or implant dentistry.
* Trained in intraoral scanning or 3D printing.
* Sedation and/or radiography certification.
