We are a small team responsible to ensure the Council meets its legal requirements under the Civil Contingencies legislation. We prepare the councils statutory emergency plans, carry out training and awareness programmes. The team works in partnership with the Cheshire Resilience Forum. We would support a candidate interested in the role who wishes to develop a career within Emergency Planning.
The role
The role will support the Head of Service to ensure the Council has emergency plans in place that are regularly maintained, reviewed and tested. You will need an appreciation of how Emergency Planning operates within a Local Authority, in line with legislative requirements and underlying concepts and principles of laws including Civil Contingencies legislation.
Your workload will be interesting, varied, demanding and at some points, pressured and challenging.
What's needed?
We are looking for someone who has:
* Good report writing skills, including an ability to understand technical matters and produce simple, straightforward and intelligible reports, guidance and procedures.
* Experience of software packages, particularly developing and maintaining spreadsheets, databases, web based systems and e-learning tools.
* Organised, with good communication skills, as you will be assisting and planning the delivery of training and exercises.
* A forward thinker with the ability to work as part of a team and able to act on your own initiative and respond to both unexpected and unanticipated problems and situations as they arise.
* Able to attend meetings across the Borough and across Cheshire as a partner within the Cheshire Resilience Forum.
* Experienced in managing sensitive information. You will fully understand the importance of confidentiality.
* Flexible and committed to the role and the team.
