Work with York Limited are working with our local authority client to find Health Visitors for work in the York area within the Healthy Child Service team, with an immediate start until October 2026.

The role will involve working within the community and to be responsible for delivering a holistic service to young people and their families.

The rate of pay is £22.21 per hour. A variety of hours are available on a temporary basis.

Duties include:

1. Being responsible for the efficient delivery of a universal core service, targeted interventions and public health interventions to children, young people and their families.
2. Being responsible for the planning and delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, under the leadership of the Healthy Child Service Manager, to ensure the best health outcomes for children, young people and families.
3. Utilising evidence based practice to promote holistic care of children and young people from 0-19 years by assessing, implementing and evaluating planned programmes of care to deliver the best health outcomes.
4. Working as an autonomous practitioner to undertake routine health assessments and ensure that the health needs of any child are recognised and evidence based care is delivered.
5. Supporting children, young people and their families in complex and/or conflicting family situations and take responsibility for offering appropriate interventions.

You will need:

6. Registered Nurse or Midwife on part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register.
7. Hold part 3 NMC registration (Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – Health Visitor).
8. Be up to date with all relevant training.
9. To be able to work to tight timescales and deal with conflicting demands, priorities and takes appropriate action to remedy issues as they arise.
10. The ability to follow policies and procedures, produce risk assessments and reports and provide handovers.
11. A flexible and compassionate approach, along with respect for an individual’s need.
12. Evidence of continuous professional development.
13. Experience of clinical audit.
14. Proficient in use of IT.
15. Ability to produce clear written reports and deliver effectively to a wide audience.
16. Ability to work effectively within a team but also independently.
17. Knowledge and understanding of Information Governance, professional record keeping requirements, confidentiality and consent.
18. Can demonstrate up to date knowledge, skills and competencies within the multi-agency safeguarding arena.
19. Demonstrable experience of working with children, young people and families.
20. Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
21. Must have a current, valid driving license and access to own vehicle for business purposes.
