Summary
The Director of Security and Parking Services is responsible for directing, evaluating, recommending, and implementing programs designed to protect the hospital and satellite facilities, personnel, patients, and visitors. This role oversees the leadership of the Security Department and serves as the primary internal security advisor to the hospital community and Maine Medical Partners. The director leads staff in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining security processes across the organization to provide customer-oriented services for staff, visitors, and patients. Key responsibilities include identifying significant risks and designing strategies and programs to reduce and prevent loss of organizational assets. The director accomplishes these objectives through a committed and competent staff, state-of-the-art integrated security technology, diverse training and awareness education, and prudent policies and procedures.
Additionally, the role is responsible for support services performed by contractors, with an overall annual expenditure of approximately one million dollars. These services include:
1. Lock/key services at the main Bramhall Campus
2. Installation and maintenance of security systems across multiple sites
3. Snow removal operations at the Bramhall Campus
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
1. Education: Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
2. License/Certification: N/A.
3. Experience: Ten (10) years of progressively responsible professional leadership in a healthcare environment, with experience in institutional security required. Healthcare experience preferred.
4. Problem Solving: Strong critical and analytical thinking, good judgment, prioritizing, and creative resolutions for positive outcomes. Ability to deescalate anxious or stressed individuals and manage aggression. Capable of handling high-volume activity, complex interpersonal situations, and crisis scenarios. Recognizes potential impacts of decisions to prevent or reduce injury, liability, and negative publicity.
5. Customer Service: Ability to assess, prioritize, and resolve issues satisfactorily across multiple locations and departments.
6. Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills for routine interactions with all organizational levels, including senior and executive leadership regarding security issues.
7. Relationship Building: Exceptional skills in building internal and external relationships, including with municipal and governmental agencies.
8. Documentation: Strong writing skills to maintain accurate documentation supporting data.
9. Technical Skills: Basic computer skills, including typing and database software; familiarity with access control, communication equipment, and first aid equipment.
10. Compliance: Ability to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal laws, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
