Pastoral Officer (Assistant Head of Year/House)Northamptonshire Area | Full Time | Permanent | September 2026 Start
Salary: £23,660 - £24,432 actual salary (36.75 hours per week, term time plus training days)
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in the Kettering area to recruit a dedicated and motivated Pastoral Officer (Assistant Head of Year/House) to join their pastoral team from September 2026.

The Role
As a Pastoral Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students with behaviour, attendance and wellbeing, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Working closely with a House Lead and wider pastoral team, you will support students in reflecting on their behaviour, facilitate successful reintegration into lessons, and build positive relationships that promote engagement and achievement.
The successful candidate will possess a strong presence, demonstrate consistency and fairness, and have the ability to engage with young people in a calm, supportive and positive manner.
Key Responsibilities
* Support students with behaviour, attendance and pastoral needs.
* Work closely with students to promote positive attitudes towards learning.
* Facilitate restorative conversations and support successful reintegration into lessons.
* Monitor and track student attendance and behaviour concerns.
* Liaise effectively with teaching staff, parents/carers and external agencies where appropriate.
* Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture.
* Work alongside the House Lead to motivate and support students within your allocated House.

Working Hours
The role is term time plus training days, working:
* Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 8:00am – 3:45pm
* Tuesday and Thursday: 8:00am – 4:00pm
(30-minute unpaid lunch break each day)
