Role responsibilities
The purpose of the Senior Project Manager role is to deliver multiple the IT and Digital Services requirements for a large project to onboard a new business and to improve the effectiveness of TfW as an organisation and to deliver improvements to the user experience of public transport services in line with Welsh Government transport policy and strategy.
* Lead and deliver a portfolio of IT and Digital Services projects across Transport for Wales and its delivery partners, applying robust project lifecycle methodologies such as APM or PRINCE2 and managing resources effectively to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
* Work within a large-scale strategic transformation initiative in the infrastructure department to reshape service delivery across operational and enabling functions, collaborating with IT and multiple workstream, including asset management, finance, and HR, to design and implement a complex operating model that strengthens governance and organisational effectiveness.
* Provide a professional and effective project management service by ensuring governance, reporting, and coordination of technical working groups and executive steering groups, following TfW processes and timelines to deliver projects that meet cost and quality objectives.
* Develop IT and Digital Services project delivery procedures by monitoring legislative changes and engaging with the supply chain to embed best practice methodologies, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement in project execution.
Who we're looking for
* Degree level qualification in IT or have equivalent experience.
* Project management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2 or similar.
* Demonstrable experience of leading on a variety of complex IT and Digital Services transport/rail related projects as the project lead.
* Demonstrable experience of managing a budget, including forecasting and monitoring spend.
* Knowledge and experience of IT contract management.
Welsh Language Skills
The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
