Overview
We have a new opportunity for a Senior Technical Manager to join our team within Vistry North East, at our Newcastle Upon Tyne office. As our Senior Technical Manager, you will manage the technical matters relating to a number of projects or a single complex one and supervise the work of other team members in their own tasks. You will demonstrate a pro-active approach to design development, working within a team environment from the project’s inception through to its completion. You will oversee the complete design process, including management of consultants, liaison with relevant statutory and local authorities and other internal and external stakeholders as necessary. You will ensure designs comply with all relevant legislation, standards and Vistry Group specifications, policies and procedures. A strong base level of Health & Safety, Environmental and Technical knowledge is required, including familiarity with Highways & Drainage, Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, Planning, and Affordable Housing. Responsibilities
* Lead the technical management of projects or complex schemes from inception to completion, including supervising team members.
* Coordinate the design process and manage consultants, liaising with statutory authorities and other stakeholders.
* Ensure designs comply with applicable legislation, standards and Vistry Group specifications, policies and procedures.
* Apply strong Health & Safety, Environmental and technical knowledge across projects, including areas such as Highways & Drainage, Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, Planning and Affordable Housing.
* Support design development in collaboration with the project team and contribute to value engineering and buildability assessment.
Qualifications and Requirements

* BTEC HND/HNC in Design, Construction or Civil Engineering.
* Extensive experience in a technical role within a residential house builder.
* Good IT literacy with experience of AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel and Word.
* Proven ability in a Technical Manager role, delivering design for projects on time, to budget and quality standards with high customer satisfaction.
* Excellent organization and time management, with the ability to multitask; commercially aware; able to make decisions within authority.
* Able to lead and work as part of a team; strong problem analysis and solution delivery skills; good mathematical ability.
* Professional aptitude and appearance at all times; commitment to continuous improvement; customer-focused mindset.
* Ability to work under pressure and accept constructive feedback; capable of working in a team-leader role; strong communication with internal staff and external bodies.
Desirable
* Member of a professional body (e.g., ICE, CIAT, CIOB, MCIAT).
* Principle Designer and related Health and Safety training/qualifications.
* Experience with Viewpoint drawing management system and AutoCAD; ability to manage technical fees and services costs.
* Continued professional development and keeping up to date with industry changes; people management and project leadership experience.

* Comply with Life of Site procedures.
* Undertake the Principal Designer role as defined in the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015, including health, safety and environmental documentation in line with Group policy.
* Ensure delivery of surveys and reports required for development and manage associated requirements from design to completion.
* Manage consultant fee proposals and formal appointments in accordance with Group procedures; coordinate civil engineering designs and house type working drawing packs.
* Obtain and collate ancillary drawings; undertake value engineering assessments to ensure buildability.
* Ensure submission of designs and technical approvals for agreements (e.g., S104, S38, S278) and timely completion of legal agreements; coordinate utility designs and site mains laying with timely agreements.
* Prepare drawings for engineering and superstructure elements for tender, construction issue and sales handover.
* Coordinate street naming with local authorities, complete plot lists, and manage internal and external communications.
* Assist in production of sales literature, legal and sales handover materials; provide information for Housing Association contracts and attend progress meetings.
* Submit information to NHBC, obtain SAP assessments, and EPCs as required; chair Pre-Start Meetings and brief departments on engineering and working drawings.
* Support land, planning and development teams during land acquisition and discharge of planning conditions; monitor and report development fees including S106 obligations.
* Resolve technical queries, conduct site visits and site progress meetings as required.
