Job Summary
An exciting opportunity within the Pharmacy QA team to support the provision of Pharmacy Quality Assurance services. The successful candidate will support the Pharmacy Lead QA & QC and the Senior QA Specialist in managing, delivering and developing the pharmaceutical QA and QC services to the Trust and external sites. Experience in quality assurance and aseptic production, change management, risk assessment and audits is essential. A good working knowledge of GMP, QA, QC and current regulations is required to develop and maintain quality systems. The role involves collaboration to deliver high-quality QA and Technical services at the hospital, including services for external organisations (e.g., Technical Services, Aseptics, Cytotoxics, Prepack, Radiopharmacy).
Main duties / Responsibilities
* Work as an integral member of the Pharmacy QA Team, demonstrating experience in Pharmaceutical Microbiology relevant to cleanrooms and knowledge to support QC Microbiology and Chemistry teams.
* Act as a releasing officer for batches manufactured under the Trust's MHRA Specials licence (Prepack, Non-sterile, Radiopharmacy). Previous release experience is beneficial; training can be provided for the right candidate.
* Work with a team of quality professionals to provide QA services to internal and external service users.
* Contribute to day-to-day delivery of high-quality services meeting local and national regulatory, safety and financial targets.

Job responsibilities
Essential qualifications and training include:
* Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science, or other relevant scientific subject OR NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3 or equivalent
Desirable qualifications include:
* Master in Pharmacy (MPharm)
* MSc/Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology & Quality Assurance (PTQA)
* GPhC registration
* RPS or APTUK membership
* Further qualification in relevant technical or management area
Experience
Essential:
* Demonstrable experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including aseptic manufacturing
* Experience with external audits
* Experience in a QC laboratory and QA department
* Experience in staff management and motivation
* Technical knowledge of Pharmaceutical QA and Production; knowledge of aseptic/parenterals (formulation, stability, administration, regulatory issues)
Desirable:
* Experience in staff training
* Experience under an MHRA licence
* Experience hosting external auditors (MHRA, EL)
* Knowledge of Hospital Pharmacy Technical Services
* Presentations and publications experience
Knowledge
* Aseptic preparation and GMP
* Expert knowledge of current legislation and guidelines related to pharmaceutical QA
* Understanding of local/regional/national priorities in pharmaceutical QA
Skills
* Analytical ability to identify problems, root-cause analysis, and solution proposals for complex issues
