We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the day-to-day running of our nursery and help deliver high-quality care and early years education for children aged 0–5.
About the role
This is a supernumerary 3 out of 5 days position (2 days room-based), working closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. You will deputise in the Manager’s absence and play a key role in leading the team, maintaining compliance, and driving high standards across the setting.
Key responsibilities
* Support the Manager in the smooth running of the nursery and lead in their absence
* Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and children’s welfare is prioritised at all times
* Lead and support staff, including rota management, inductions, supervisions, and wellbeing
* Maintain staffing ratios and provide cover where required
* Act as first point of contact for parents and staff, resolving queries and concerns
* Oversee health & safety, hygiene, and compliance with policies and procedures
* Support learning and development, including monitoring child progress
* Assist with recruitment, training, and performance management
* Manage administrative tasks such as records, training logs, and communication systems
* Contribute to continuous improvement and work towards achieving outstanding Ofsted outcomes
