Job overview
Experienced theatre practitioner looking to develop leadership skills within a fast‑paced trauma environment. Band 6 Scrub and Anaesthetic Practitioner on the Trauma theatre team at RSCH Brighton.
Main duties of the job
* Support both planned trauma lists and emergency surgical activity.
* Provide scrub and anaesthetic support for major orthopaedic trauma, polytrauma, fracture fixation and emergency surgery.
* Lead coordination and day‑to‑day running of Trauma theatres, ensuring specialist instrumentation and equipment availability, responding to changes in theatre lists and maintaining patient flow.
* Provide out‑of‑hours leadership, assist with prioritisation of CEPOD lists and support other theatre specialties when required.
* Support supervision and development of junior staff, HCAs and learners, including student nurses and student ODPs.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical and managerial support to the Team Leader.
* Provide clinical leadership, support and teaching to all relevant personnel within the specialist area.
* Provide specialist technical and clinical advice to colleagues in the peri‑operative setting.
* Provide information and support to patients undergoing anaesthesia and surgery.
* Assist with the development of safe and high‑quality specialist patient care in line with Trust guidelines.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse, NMC Level 1 / HCPC.
* Operating Theatre Experience.
* Demonstration of transferable skills.
