Working Hours : 11.30am – 8pm Monday – Thursday, 9.30am – 6pm Friday
About the Role
On behalf of our client, a well-established business in the manufacturing sector, we are looking for a talented Multi‑Skilled Engineer to join their maintenance team based in Baildon, BD17. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems and will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of production equipment. The role involves a combination of reactive maintenance, scheduled maintenance programs, and stock management for spare parts. With a focus on minimising downtime and improving machine performance, this is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast‑paced and supportive environment.
Key Accountabilities
Maintenance Programs : Undertake regular and reactive maintenance for both mechanical and electrical equipment as part of a structured maintenance schedule.
Breakdown Resolution : Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults quickly, minimising machine downtime.
Stock Management : Ensure the availability of critical spare parts by managing stock levels, monitoring usage, and placing timely orders with suppliers.
Time Management : Prioritise daily tasks effectively, ensuring urgent maintenance issues are dealt with promptly.
Teamwork : Collaborate closely with colleagues across departments, particularly machine operators, to troubleshoot and resolve any issues.
Problem Solving & Design : Utilise your engineering knowledge to identify recurring problems and design effective solutions to improve machinery efficiency.
Health & Safety : Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe, clean working environment in all maintenance activities.
Communication : Communicate maintenance needs, repairs, and improvements effectively across all departments, including with the General Manager and third‑party suppliers.
Stakeholder Relationships
General Manager : Work with the General Manager to agree on and prioritise the workload and address urgent tasks.
Internal Teams : Work collaboratively with team members in production, machine operators, and other departments.
External Suppliers : Liaise with suppliers for the timely delivery of parts, tools, and services, ensuring the business maintains operational efficiency.
Machine Operators : Provide ongoing technical support to machine operators, ensuring equipment runs smoothly and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience, and Attributes
Mechanical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering).
Electrical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering).
Scissor lift license (desirable; training will be provided).
Strong problem‑solving skills with a practical approach to resolving both mechanical and electrical issues.
Basic computer skills to manage stock and maintenance schedules.
Time management and prioritisation skills to handle urgent tasks effectively.
A team player with excellent communication skills, capable of working across departments.
A commitment to health and safety standards and ensuring a safe working environment.
