Role Overview
The Front of House Manager is responsible for overseeing all front-of-house operations at Stowmarket Golf Club, ensuring an exceptional experience for members, guests, and visitors. This role encompasses the management of the bar and restaurant, liaising with the Head Chef and Club Administrator to ensure seamless integration for all club events, and maintaining the highest standards of customer service throughout the clubhouse.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Member Relations
* Deliver outstanding customer service to all members, guests, and visitors
* Act as the first point of contact for hospitality enquiries, bookings, and complaints
* Build and maintain positive relationships with members and ensure their needs are met
* Handle member feedback professionally and implement improvements where necessary
* Ensure all front-of-house staff maintain the club's service standards
Operational Management
* Oversee daily operations of reception, bar, restaurant, Halfway House and function areas
* Ensure that the daily diary runs smoothly
* Hold weekly meetings with the head chef to ensure good communication between kitchen and front of house.
* Maintain health and safety standards throughout front-of-house areas
* Ensure the clubhouse is presented to the highest standard at all times
Staff Management
* Recruit, train, and supervise front-of-house staff, including bar, and waiting staff
* Create staff rotas ensuring adequate coverage for all services
* Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews
* Foster a positive working environment and team culture
* Ensure all staff are trained in customer service, health and safety, and licensing requirements
Events & Functions
* Coordinate and manage all club events, competitions, and private functions
* Liaise with members and external clients regarding event requirements
* Oversee catering arrangements and ensure smooth delivery of events
* Develop new event opportunities to generate additional revenue
Financial Management
* Monitor and manage front-of-house budgets
* Control stock levels for bar supplies
* Process payments and maintain accurate financial records
* Identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve profitability
* Prepare regular reports on sales, costs, and operational performance
* Proactive management of suppliers to ensure best value, quality and choice.
Compliance & Administration
* Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and food hygiene standards
* Maintain accurate records for bookings, events, and member services
* Oversee the club's booking system and ensure data accuracy
* Keep up to date with relevant legislation and industry best practices
Essential Requirements
Experience
* Proven experience in a front-of-house management role, preferably in hospitality, leisure, or golf club environment
* Demonstrated experience in staff management and team leadership
* Strong background in customer service excellence
* Experience managing events and functions
Skills & Knowledge
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
* Proficient in hospitality management software and booking systems
* Sound financial acumen and budget management skills
* Understanding of licensing laws and health and safety regulations
* Knowledge of food hygiene standards

Desirable Requirements
* Previous experience working in a golf club environment
* Knowledge of golf operations and etiquette
* Personal Licence Holder
* Level 2 Food Safety qualification or willingness to obtain
* First Aid certification
