Project Officer – Student Engagement
This is a temporary role for approximately 8 months, with a projected end date of Friday 22nd May 2026.
Salary: £29,000-£33,000 dependent on experience.
Are you passionate about STEM education and its transformative power for young people? Are you motivated by working towards ambitious targets and being challenged by a wide variety of tasks? We have a great opportunity for an exceptional individual to join us as a Project Officer and work within a team to make a real difference to young people across the UK. You'll be working on STEM Learning's Destination STEM placements and mentoring programmes - engaging employers, and internal and external stakeholders. But, most importantly of all, you'll be supporting young people to develop their skills and make informed decisions about their futures through exciting, high-impact activities.
The Role
Last year, we delivered nearly 900 placements and supported close to 700 students in gaining access to mentoring opportunities. As a Project Officer, you will provide effective project and contract management support, focusing on these key programmes within our Destination STEM initiative.
Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:
* Amplifying the Student Voice: Highlight the benefits for young people taking part in our programmes, ensuring that direct input from students is at the heart of the impact narrative.
* Stakeholder engagement: Build strong, collaborative relationships with external delivery partners to support effective KPI monitoring, share best practice, and gain insights — all with a focus on driving continuous improvement.
* Technical operations: Demonstrate strong digital literacy and quickly adapt to new technologies. Be confident navigating bespoke IT systems, with the initiative to independently troubleshoot, update, and improve digital infrastructure.
* Creative communication: Manage communications with internal and external partners who support us to deliver our programmes across the UK and magnify the reach of our message through creative communication techniques.
* Close collaboration: Work closely with our internal stakeholders to align and integrate multiple workstreams. Support related projects where needed, ensuring joined-up delivery and maximum impact across programmes.
* Demonstrating impact: Work with the Evaluation Team and colleagues across the organisation to gather and use evidence of impact effectively — identifying efficiencies, informing decisions, and supporting future growth opportunities.
* Problem-solving:
Manage ambiguity and complex challenges, identifying risks and opportunities, and helping implement practical solutions for continuous improvement.
* Building new relationships: Support onboarding of new employer relationships and ensure they are supported during their time with us.
You'll also be an outstanding advocate for STEM Learning and the ENTHUSE Charity, embodying our values: Sustainable – Innovative – Proactive.
