Exciting opportunity for a Cloud Engineer to join the Payments Services Platform in our International & CHAPS Lab, providing payment options for all of our customers. Specifically, to support our new industry-leading International Payments Platform (IPP). Our strategic roadmap includes a Payments Industry product called Global Payments Plus (GPP).
As the Cloud Engineer, you'll lead, direct, and shape approaches to solving technical challenges and translating business requirements into technical solutions. You'll work in a highly collaborative way to drive efforts to create, build, support, and improve our software, working closely with the product and engineering teams on exciting new challenges. You'll be a core contributor to ensure good quality and engineering practices are followed in accordance with our engineering transformation strategy.

What you'll do…
* This is a key role, so you'll have the opportunity to work with all our feature teams to establish cloud patterns and principles in line with the Group's methodologies.
* Focus on the cloud elements of solutions, helping deploy software smoothly and continuously improve our processes.
* Be responsible for build & support of shared hosting services such as Kubernetes, Ingress/Egress, Networking patterns, Certificates & data resources.
* Help us deploy software regularly and smoothly in the cloud, improving our processes.
* Assist in implementing DevOps tools & cloud resources like Jenkins, Kubernetes, Harness, and maintaining our hosting platform.
* Create and improve deployment automation strategies like blue/green and canary deployments.
* Configure and enhance observability controls.
* Prove scalability, resilience, and security controls.
What you'll need…
* Broad and deep technical experience with a passion for engineering excellence.
* Ability to independently design, implement, manage, and optimize cloud deployments; proficiency with orchestration tools like Jenkins, GitHub, Harness.
* Background in DevOps, Cloud, or Software engineering with a solid understanding of Cloud delivery.
* Strong Cloud Engineering and DevOps experience, preferably with GCP.
* Proven experience with cloud-native solutions and running production workloads in Kubernetes.
* Understanding of Observability, SRE, DevSecOps & FinOps.
* Good knowledge of cloud networking & connectivity patterns.
* Familiarity with data tools such as Kafka, BigTable, DataProc, BigQuery.
It would be great if you also had…
* Network protocols & security knowledge.
* Experience with Contract Testing, APIGEE, Kafka, Microservices.
