Customer Delivery Driver – Lowestoft Leisure Way Superstore
Salary: Starts from £13.35 an hour; increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.
Working hours: Minimum guaranteed 16 hours per week; flexible to 12 hours per week for those who prefer fewer hours.
Availability window (times you’ll be expected to work):
* Sunday: 18:00 to 22:00
* Monday: 18:00 to 22:00
* Tuesday: 18:00 to 22:00
* Wednesday: 19:00 to 23:00
* Friday: 19:00 to 23:00
* Saturday: 19:00 to 23:00
About the role
Customers are at the heart of everything Tesco does. As the face of Tesco on the road, you will deliver the customer’s shopping trip, delivering products into customers’ homes each day. Your role is more than driving; it’s about helping others and providing great service with a smile.
Responsibilities
* I ensure the van and trays I use are clean and kept tidy/organized.
* Leave the back yard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish, and pick up litter as I see it.
* Ensure trays are washed as part of the tray wash process.
* Load the van as required, checking the van for roadworthiness.
* Talk to the customer about any changes to their order, including short‑code items and substitutions, offering a refund for anything they are unhappy with.
* Take care of products/deliveries as if they were my own.
* Explain to the customer that they will not be charged any more for their substitutions.
* Deliver during the customer’s time slot.
* Call the customer before arriving at their property if early.
* Call the store/centre if running 30 or more minutes late.
Qualifications & Skills
* Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit, working together to make sure our store is the best it can be for customers.
* Warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues, taking time to understand the customer and say “Thank you.”
* Act quickly to respond to changing needs of customers and embracing change within my store.
* Energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations, integrating home and work to achieve a balance that is right for me.
* Share ideas with my Manager and other colleagues on how we can improve our store for customers.
* Have a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic only) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
