Job Title: Consultant Psychiatrist

We are seeking an experienced part-time (4 sessions/week) Consultant Psychiatrist to work in our Scottish Residential Learning Disability services, providing senior medical cover for our on-call rota (1 in 5).
The post holder will serve as the Responsible Medical Officer, overseeing and maintaining the care of all residents as required. They will also ensure the delivery of high-quality medical care in accordance with GMC standards and other relevant professional guidelines.

* Thistle House (Dundee, DD5 1PL) - 10 residents
* Ellen Mhor (Dundee, DD1 2QH) - 12 residents
* Lindsay House (Dundee, DD3 9AG) - 2 residents
* Ranaich (Dunblane, FK15 0DR) - 14 residents
* Trinity House and Trinity Lodge (Lockerbie, DG11 2DS & DG11 2AG) - 18 residents

Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Lead the provision of high-quality care to residents in Scottish residential services.
2. Act as a positive role model, demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors, and staff.
3. Take responsibility for patient treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
4. Assess referrals and conduct mental state examinations of service users.
5. Undertake investigations, diagnosis, and treatment.
6. Conduct patient reviews and clinical audits.
7. Lead risk assessments, risk management, and embed clinical governance.
8. Prepare Mental Health Act reports and attend tribunals.
9. Maintain accurate patient records.
10. Communicate regularly with the Scotland Medical Director and Operations Director.
11. Engage in effective communication with patients, families, staff, and other stakeholders, providing appropriate reports.
12. Participate in academic meetings and adhere to professional standards for CPD as set by GMC, the Department of Health, and the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
13. Contribute to the 1 in 5 on-call rota.
