At Fidra Energy, we're developing Thorpe Marsh Energy Park (1.4GW) and West Burton C (500MW) - two of the most ambitious grid-scale BESS projects in the UK.
We're looking for an experienced Station Director to design the setup, lead the team, and embed the standards that will define how both sites perform from day one.
This isn't about inheriting a legacy site or fixing someone else's problems. This is your chance to build it right, from the ground up.
About us:
We're Fidra Energy - an independent energy storage business backed by EIG and the UK's National Wealth Fund. We're currently developing Thorpe Marsh and West Burton C, with plans to operate up to 5GW of battery assets across the UK and Europe in the coming years.
The opportunity:
Set the tone for how large-scale battery storage should be operated in the UK.
We're building a hybrid operational model: a core in-house team covering engineering, maintenance, and site leadership, supported by long-term contractor partnerships. You'll be responsible for shaping that model from the start - designing the structure, recruiting the team, and defining the way we work across both Thorpe Marsh and West Burton C.
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, you'll have full accountability for operational performance, safety, compliance, and stakeholder engagement across both sites. And you won't just be delivering on our ambitions - you'll be helping define them. As we grow, we'll look to you to shape the operating blueprint for future projects across our portfolio.
What we're looking for:
* Leadership experience in transmission-connected power generation or storage assets (BESS would be great—but proven site leadership is essential).
* A track record in building teams and systems from scratch—you'll be the architect of the site's org structure and processes.
* Strong commercial and contractor management skills, and confidence engaging with stakeholders, regulators, and the local community.
* Someone who builds open, accountable teams and brings others along for the journey.
* A visible, hands-on leader who's ready to be site-based in Doncaster, Monday to Friday.

* £100k–£125k base salary
