Overview
To work as an integral part of the ward/departmental teams with a flexible approach within the Facilities Department at Horsham Hospital. Perform cleaning duties as required in all areas of the Healthcare premises to ensure our standards meet the National Specifications for Cleanliness in the NHS.
Responsibilities
* Carry out cleaning duties in all areas of the Healthcare premises to NHS National Specifications for Cleanliness.
* Use of cleaning equipment.
* Adhere to policies and procedures relating to food hygiene, including HACCP, personal hygiene and cleaning down procedures.
* Clean all surfaces to remove dust and debris; clean hard floors and mop daily.
* Remove/replace/clean curtains and blinds as necessary; clean internal glass and ledges; clean all sanitary areas; clean beds and furniture.
* Empty, clean and replenish waste bins; seal waste bags and dispose of waste appropriately.
* Replenish consumables (paper towels, soap, toilet rolls, etc.).
* Collect, wash and return water jugs; prepare and serve food and beverages as required; assist with service of meals to patients, visitors and staff; ensure food presentation, portion control, temperature and quality standards are adhered to.
* Maintain privacy and dignity of patients while carrying out Facilities duties.
* Ensure correct storage of all items; adopt a flexible approach; security is maintained at all times; complete departmental paperwork as required.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Previous cleaning experience would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be provided.
* Motivated and hard-working; able to work as part of the Facilities team.
* Wear correct and clean uniform; participate in appraisal and development processes; undertake training as necessary.
* Commit to personal and professional development within agreed timescales; contribute to team effectiveness.
* Ability to work in a healthcare environment and respect patient privacy.
