Job Opportunity: Category Manager
We are currently recruiting for a Category Manager for a busy local authority on an initial 6-month contract.
Location: 1 day per week in the office in Chichester
Role Overview
The main purpose of the role is to manage sub-categories across the Place category portfolio and collaborate with Directorates/Services and the Category Lead. The goal is to champion a new best practice commercial approach to external spend, delivering value for money outcomes and transforming service delivery methods.
Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement robust sub-category strategies for the Place category.
2. Optimize performance in terms of cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
3. Share best practice guidance for procurement of Capital, Waste, or Highways across the business.
4. Consider the full supplier lifecycle in strategy development.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience as a Category Manager in the public sector, preferably within a local authority, covering categories such as infrastructure, waste, highways, construction, etc.
* MCIPS qualification or working towards it.
* Knowledge and experience of public procurement processes.
