Band 6 Junior Sister / Junior Charge Nurse - Frome
Frome is a 35 bedded emergency surgical ward caring for a wide variety of surgical specialities. On Frome you will be responsible for preparing patients for theatres and providing a high standard of care to patients post surgery.
You will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team so good communication skills are essential. You must be able to advocate for your patients. You will also need to be confident in supporting and developing clinical competence within the nursing team.
The successful candidates would need to have experience in managing surgical patients and have insight into how to facilitate the effective flow of patients throughout the ward.

Main duties of the job
* Act as a role model to junior staff, being fully involved in team development and offer support to junior members of the team.
* Maintain the high standards of care on the ward, participating in audit to monitor these standards.
* Be able to co-ordinate patient flow throughout the ward, facilitating admissions and discharges.
* Assist the Sister in the effective line management of the team and be proactive in staff development.
* Have insight into budgetary control ensuring efficient use of resources.
Person Specification
Experience
* Previous experience within relevant clinical area
* Proven experience and achievements at Band 5 or equivalent
Education & Qualifications
* RGN
* Teaching qualification or courses relevant to specialty or studying towards
* Evidence of relevant post registration education and training
* Relevant Diploma/Degree or equivalent
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a wide range of people
* Leadership ability
* Time management of self and others
* Demonstrate an ability to problem solve complex situations
* Experience of change management
