Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer
Location: Wigan
Salary: £47,333 + £1000 handovers
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (2 days, 2 nights, 7 – 7)
The Role
To support manufacturing processes by responding effectively to equipment breakdowns and carrying out scheduled maintenance work. The role requires a proactive approach to diagnosing and correcting machine faults to prevent repeat failures.
Responsibilities include:
* Organising daily tasks to optimise available time
* Diagnosing issues and completing tasks promptly
* Identifying root causes and implementing corrective improvements
* Providing additional cover during sickness, holidays, and workload peaks
* Communicating effectively with other departments to foster good relationships
* Ensuring cooperation and assistance in work completion
* Recording breakdown information and equipment condition accurately
* Being familiar with machinery operation and proactively identifying problems
* Maintaining GMP and hygiene standards
* Complying with all health & safety regulations
* Following stores procedures and documentation
* Working within a shift structure with technical cover at all times
* Providing overtime as needed for holidays, sickness, shutdowns, and projects
* Monitoring machinery and making necessary adjustments
* Following supervisor instructions
* Fault finding using machine history and documentation
* Using equipment and machinery only within training and competence levels
Skills & Experience Required
* Time-served apprenticeship
* Minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent
* Experience in a similar environment
