I am partnering with a highly regarded financial services institution to appoint an accomplished ACA into its Accounting Policy function on a temporary basis. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within a globally recognised organisation that sets the benchmark for technical excellence, regulatory rigour, and industry influence. This would be on a short term basis through Detillens consulting model, with the potential for a long term role for the right candidate. The Opportunity This role sits at the heart of the firm’s global finance organisation, providing authoritative guidance on complex accounting and regulatory matters. You will shape policy, influence senior stakeholders, and ensure the organisation remains at the forefront of evolving standards across IFRS, US GAAP, and prudential regulation. The successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser to the business, supporting strategic decision‑making and ensuring the firm’s financial reporting remains robust, compliant, and future‑proof. Key Responsibilities Lead the development, interpretation, and implementation of accounting and regulatory policy across the organisation. Provide expert technical advice on complex transactions, new products, and emerging regulatory requirements. Partner with senior leadership, including Group Finance, Risk, Treasury, and Front Office, to ensure consistent application of accounting standards. Drive the firm’s response to external regulatory and standard‑setting developments, including engagement with auditors and regulators. Oversee the creation of high‑quality technical papers, policy documents, and training materials. Mentor and develop a high‑performing team of technical accounting specialists. About You You will be a highly technical accountant with deep expertise in accounting and regulatory policy within financial services. This role requires someone who is not only technically exceptional but also commercially astute, influential, and comfortable operating at Executive Director level. Essential experience includes: ACA/CA/ACCA (or equivalent) with significant post‑qualification experience. Extensive knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and financial services regulatory frameworks (e.g., PRA, Basel). Proven ability to interpret and apply complex accounting standards in a banking or capital markets environment. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the gravitas to influence senior executives.
