The Glan y Môr and Bryngwyn Federation is seeking to appoint a well-organised, proactive, and dedicated Science Technician to join the Science Department at Ysgol Bryngwyn School. This is an excellent opportunity to join the school during a significant phase of development. As part of a major multi-million-pound capital investment project, the school is undergoing substantial refurbishment, including the construction of brand-new science laboratories, due for completion by Summer 2026. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education by assisting in the preparation and maintenance of practical resources, ensuring high standards of health and safety, and supporting the teaching staff in practical lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
· Preparation and setting up of materials and equipment for science lessons and practical work
· Safe storage, maintenance, and organisation of chemicals, resources, and equipment
· Support with demonstrations and practical classroom activities
· Ensuring that laboratories are clean, well-organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
· Monitoring and managing stock levels and placing orders where necessary
The successful candidate will:
· Have relevant experience in a laboratory setting or working with chemicals (experience within an educational environment is desirable)
· Demonstrate excellent organisational and time-management skills
· Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
· Have good ICT skills and an understanding of relevant health and safety requirements in a science context
· Be committed to supporting the delivery of an engaging and safe learning environment for pupils
Term Time Only – 39 Weeks
Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 3:15pm (45-minute unpaid lunch break)
