Report to: Technical Manager
We are seeking to recruit a Hygiene Manager with the responsibility for the management and review of all cleaning schedules including the monitoring and evaluation of training requirements. Preparation of site audits will be a part of this role, ensuring all documentation is available and up to date, carrying out investigation work. As an active member of the HACCP team, you will conduct trials of new chemicals and equipment in conjunction with approved suppliers, managing and purchasing chemicals, ensuring safe storage
Responsibilities: To deliver on Key Performance Indicators
To ensure the management operating systems for the area is accurately managed, maintained and developed to enable responsive fact-based management of the operation
To challenge, mentor and coach people and challenge processes and practices within the factory
To carry out activities with full awareness of their impact on the environment both in terms of people and the local area in which we operate
To objectively assess own teams' performance and develop improvement plans against the working to standards agenda
To ensure clarity of role for team members to include assigning tasks, coaching, following up and feeding back to individuals
To initiate and support projects
To train all teams in hygiene related activities
Conduct Data analysis able to plot trends and spot opportunities
To ensure all aspects of the hygiene service are carried out and maintained to the required standard
To manage the hygiene Hours and ensure all expenditure is authorised and recorded
To maintain detailed cleaning instructions and schedules for every hygiene activity that meet the requirements of the FSA, BRC ,TESCO, M&S audits
The job holder has a responsibility to create a culture of awareness of, and commitment to the highest standards of quality & food safety and as such they must lead by example
The job holder is responsible for actively encouraging all staff to immediately report any quality or food safety issues, assign reward for doing so (using the STAR Award process) and must be seen to take visible action and give feedback to the reporter on actions taken to address the raised issue.
The job holder will be required to support the site food safety and quality management systems through active engagement in the site HACCP team, internal and external audit programmes, and the proactive use of the QUOR system. Each department will be always maintained as "audit ready"
Essential Criteria: Relevant Chemical / Food Hygiene / qualifications
Food manufacturing experience
Budget responsibility
Exposure to a variety of quality standards such as BRC and HACCP
Demonstrate experience of identifying and implementing appropriate change to deliver business improvement
Strong leadership skills and experience of managing.
Commitment to Safety both in terms of people and products
Knowledge of labour and throughput controls and cost benefits
Strong decisions making skills
Competent IT User
Willing to undertake personal development training
Desirable Criteria: Knowledge of waste and control methods to reduce environmental impact
Qualification in a food related subject.
