EAL Specialist Teaching Assistant Location: Wakefield Contract: Full-time, Long-term We are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic EAL Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Wakefield on a long-term, full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) to thrive in a school environment. The Role Provide targeted support for pupils with EAL, enabling them to access the curriculum and achieve their potential. Work with teachers to plan and deliver strategies that support language development. Assist in creating a positive, inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity. Support pupils both in-class and through small group/1:1 interventions. Contribute to assessment and progress tracking of EAL learners. The Ideal Candidate Experience working with children and young people, ideally within an EAL or SEN context. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting pupil progress. A proactive approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Relevant qualifications (e.g., TA qualification, TEFL, CELTA, or similar) are desirable but not essential.
