Associate Director – Project Controls – Energy & Natural Resources
Join Turner & Townsend as an Associate Director, leading our expansion in Aberdeen and contributing to major natural resources and new energies projects.

Responsibilities
* Client‑facing stakeholder engagement with key clients in Natural Resources and New Energies.
* Business development and growth of the Aberdeen team.
* Team development across planning & controls, cost management, and project management.
* Lead Aberdeen recruitment in partnership with the wider Natural Resources North (NRN) senior leadership team (SLT).
* Proposal and bid writing/reviews.
* Spend 60‑80% of the time delivering planning and project controls across major programmes, and the remaining time supporting the development and growth of the Aberdeen team.
* Work with SLT within the Natural Resources North cost centre and the wider UK programme controls function.
* Mentoring and coaching.
* Other responsibilities include:
o Working closely with other cost centres with an Aberdeen office presence.
o On‑boarding new starters and building a leadership team to support the growth plan.
o Focusing on health, safety and well‑being for the team.
o Establishing a close bond with the team, especially for those working remotely or in client organisations.
o Reviewing new project proposals or remits to ensure realistic, resource plans for programme delivery.
o Identifying resourcing requirements to support programmes and liaising with client planning functions to resolve resourcing issues.
o Providing an efficient day‑to‑day service to the Programme and Project Manager teams in reporting on plans, costs, safety, environment and programme performance.
o Monitoring the accuracy and consistency of plans, cost, safety, environment and performance reporting, and deploying planning and controls resources to best effect.
o Monitoring data input by project teams and others to cost and performance systems to assure deliverables against required data standards.
* SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
* Experience focused on Natural Resources and New Energies.
* Proven business development experience.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills.
* Strong understanding of strategic resource management.
* Adaptability and resilience.
* Evidence of an established management and leadership approach.
* Knowledge of reputational, commercial and financial risk.
* Skilled in oral and written communication.
* Proven project management office (PMO) experience within planning and project controls, ideally with a Natural Resources and New Energies focus.
* Proficiency with discipline‑specific software such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office applications; intermediate knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start‑up work processes.
* Knowledge of the Aberdeen market would be advantageous.
* Knowledge of digital PMOs would be advantageous.
